Where practicable, we will collect personal information directly from you. You may have the option of interacting with us anonymously, however this may limit our ability to provide legal services to you.

- Communicating with you about your matter
- Complying with our legal, regulatory, and professional obligations

We will not use your personal information for direct marketing without your consent, and you may withdraw consent at any time.
5. Confidentiality and Legal Professional Privilege
As solicitors, we owe you a strict duty of confidentiality. Information you provide to us in the context of seeking legal advice is confidential and may be protected by legal professional privilege. We will not disclose confidential client information to third parties except:
- With your consent
- As required or permitted by law
- To barristers, agents, or other professionals engaged by us on your behalf

This duty of confidentiality continues after your matter is finalised and after our engagement ends.

We take all reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. Our security measures include secure electronic file management, password-protected systems, encrypted email communications where possible, and physical security of any paper records.
We retain personal information for as long as required to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law (including limitation periods applicable to legal claims). We follow the Law Institute of Victoria’s recommended file retention periods for legal matters. When information is no longer required, it is securely destroyed or de-identified.
8. Notifiable Data Breaches
We comply with the Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). In the event of an eligible data breach that is likely to result in serious harm to you, we will notify the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) and affected individuals as soon as practicable.
9. Your Rights — Access and Correction
You have the right to request access to personal information we hold about you, and to request its correction if it is inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. To make such a request, please contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe. In some circumstances we may be unable to provide access (for example, where access would prejudice ongoing legal proceedings), and we will explain the reasons in writing.
